Pet Passport
If you’re searching for a pet passport so your dog, cat or ferret can travel abroad with you, it’s important to know that the rules have changed since Brexit. UK-issued pet passports are no longer valid for travel to European Union countries — what you need today is an Animal Health Certificate.
Is a UK pet passport still valid?
For pets travelling from Great Britain, no. The pet passport that UK owners once relied on is no longer accepted at EU borders, and an Animal Health Certificate is now needed for every trip abroad with your pet. The process is simple, and with certificates starting from just £69, it’s far more affordable than many expect the pet passport cost to be.
The new UK pet passport
Think of an Animal Health Certificate as the new EU pet passport. Issued by a qualified Official Veterinarian, it confirms your pet meets all the health requirements for travel to the EU and back to Great Britain. Whether you were looking for a dog passport or a cat passport, our team has helped many thousands of UK owners travel abroad with complete confidence.
health certificates I was worried that this would be a difficult service to navigate but Abbeywell made sure everything went smoothly. We were travelling with two cats and two dogs. Everything was great and very quick. All went well at the channel tunnel. Delighted thank you
Travelling abroad with pets can be stressful, but Dan and Mike always make the whole process straightforward. Their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail give us complete confidence that everything has been prepared correctly, and we’ve never had any issues.
A huge thank you to Dan, Mike, and the whole team. We wouldn’t go anywhere else for our AHCs and highly recommend Abbeywell Vets to anyone looking for a caring, professional, and reliable veterinary practice.
How it Works
Five simple steps to obtain your Animal Health Certificate
1
You Check
If you have a Dog, Cat or Ferret and they have a microchip and they have been vaccinated against rabies, we can issue an AHC for travel.
2
You Apply
Complete our simple online application form and provide the necessary supporting documentation confirming your pets’ rabies vaccination status
3
We Confirm
Once we have verified your pets’ rabies vaccination & microchip status and approved your application we will send you a secure Paylink. Once payment is received, your AHC is confirmed.
4
We Prepare
Once payment has been received your AHC application is assigned to one of our Official Veterinarians. It will be prepared and ready to issue on the confirmed collection date.
5
You Collect
On your confirmed collection date, you must arrive in Folkestone in person with your pet(s) so we scan and verify the microchip and witness you signing the AHC.
