Important Information – EU Pet Passport update

Guidance provided by the APHA, the UK Government Agency.

“The European Commission has confirmed that if your main residence is not in an EU member state or Northern Ireland, the EU Pet Passport will not be valid for travel into the EU on or after the 22nd of April.

Owners who are resident in Great Britain will need an Animal Health Certificate for their dog, cat or ferret(s) if they’re travelling from Great Britain (England, Wales and Scotland) to an EU country.

Carriers of pets into the EU are still in the process of updating their procedures in line with the new rules, due to the short notice of the announcement.”

What does this mean?

If you possess an EU Pet Passport and you do not live in the EU, then you require an Animal Health Certificate to travel with your pet to the EU.

If your EU pet passport has been completed correctly and shows a valid in-date rabies vaccination, then we can use your EU Pet Passport for the issuance of an Animal Health Certificate – your pet does not require an additional rabies vaccination.

When making your online application for an AHC, you will need to provide images of specific
pages from your EU Pet Passport:

1. Rabies Vaccination Page, 
2. Microchip Details Page, 
3. Owner Details Page, 
4. Pet Details Page, 
5. Issuing Vet Details Page

Please ensure the passport number for each page is visible in the images submitted.
