Pet Passport European Union
Planning a trip to the European Union with your pet? Since Brexit, the rules around travelling with animals have changed, and the Pet Passport you may have used before is no longer valid for travel from the UK to EU countries.
In its place, you’ll need an Animal Health Certificate – and our AHC Online Service, based at Abbeywell Vets in Folkestone, is here to make the process simple, affordable and stress-free.

What replaced the EU Pet Passport for UK travellers?
UK-issued Pet Passports are no longer accepted for entry into European Union countries. Instead, pet owners travelling from the UK to the EU now require an Animal Health Certificate, issued by a qualified Official Veterinarian, for each trip they make. Unlike the old Pet Passport, an AHC is required every time you travel, but the process of obtaining one is straightforward — and with certificates starting from just £69, it needn’t be as expensive as the cost for a pet passport.
Why choose us for your EU travel documentation
We’re one of the largest and most trusted providers of Animal Health Certificates in the UK, and we were the original low-cost provider of AHCs. Our team of experienced Official Veterinarians has helped many thousands of pet owners from across the UK navigate the post-Brexit travel requirements and get their animals to EU destinations with ease and confidence.
Veterinary surgeries and professionals throughout the UK recommend our services to their clients, and with over 2,000 five-star Google Reviews, our reputation for delivering excellent value and a reliable service speaks for itself.
health certificates I was worried that this would be a difficult service to navigate but Abbeywell made sure everything went smoothly. We were travelling with two cats and two dogs. Everything was great and very quick. All went well at the channel tunnel. Delighted thank you
Travelling abroad with pets can be stressful, but Dan and Mike always make the whole process straightforward. Their professionalism, knowledge, and attention to detail give us complete confidence that everything has been prepared correctly, and we’ve never had any issues.
A huge thank you to Dan, Mike, and the whole team. We wouldn’t go anywhere else for our AHCs and highly recommend Abbeywell Vets to anyone looking for a caring, professional, and reliable veterinary practice.
How it Works
Five simple steps to obtain your Animal Health Certificate
1
You Check
If you have a Dog, Cat or Ferret and they have a microchip and they have been vaccinated against rabies, we can issue an AHC for travel.
2
You Apply
Complete our simple online application form and provide the necessary supporting documentation confirming your pets’ rabies vaccination status
3
We Confirm
Once we have verified your pets’ rabies vaccination & microchip status and approved your application we will send you a secure Paylink. Once payment is received, your AHC is confirmed.
4
We Prepare
Once payment has been received your AHC application is assigned to one of our Official Veterinarians. It will be prepared and ready to issue on the confirmed collection date.
