If you are thinking about taking your pet on a journey overseas, then you may need a Fit to Travel Certificate.

A Fit to Travel Certificate is a document that confirms your pet appears to be healthy enough to travel safely. Airlines and other travel companies, like Eurotunnel, often require this certificate to make sure all pets on board are well and won’t be at risk during the trip.

It’s worth noting that not every airline or travel company requires a Fit to Travel Certificate. So, the first thing you’ll want to do is to check directly with the company you’ll be travelling with to see if they need one for your pet’s journey.

If a Fit to Travel Certificate is required, this is how it works: We will need to schedule an appointment with one of vets. Our vet will carry out an examination to make sure your pet isn’t showing any signs of contagious diseases or other illnesses and to ensure they appear to be in good physical condition overall. If the vet is satisfied, they will complete and issue you with a Fit to Travel Certificate for your journey. It is important to note that your carrier may require that the certificate is issued within a certain number of days prior to travel.
